About my Services

Companion Animal Holistic Health Practitioner
I love animals and have always had a special relationship with them. I have taken a certificate program through Clayton College regarding Companion Animal Holistic Health. I also use C.O.R.E. concepts in interpreting the messages and symbolism of animal behaviors as relevant to their human families. A lot of my work with animals is intuitive, but I also incorporate the use of flower essences, essential oils, energy work, bodywork, species appropriate diet, and herbs.

As a Holistic Health Practitioner, the goal is to see each being as a Whole. Symptoms are seen as messengers of a deeper issue- not simply as individual issues needing to be cured or suppressed. The aim is to use symptoms as a guide to heal at the level of the imbalance, so holistic healing is not as fast as allopathic medicine at relieving symptoms by virtue of it’s nature, but it’s benefits are strong. The aim of holistic health is to re-achieve balance in the body.

The body always desires to be in balance. When a symptom arises, it is simply the body indicating that something is going on that is disrupting the body’s balance.  It is at this point, that one can choose to either suppress the symptom, or listen to the wisdom of the symptom, to get to the root of the imbalance & restore harmony.

My personal experiences with regards to my own animals:
I have two dogs, a white German shepherd, Alo & a Belgian tervurian, Jasper. I had them on regular dog food that you can buy at the grocery store. It was a “reputable” brand by commercial advertising standards, but both of my dogs had various ailments. Alo, my shepherd, had skin issues- she would scratch her coat & develop bald spots that would take weeks or more to fill back in. She also was a finicky eater & would often eat her poops. Jasper had kennel cough & was severely underweight (we had adopted him from a shelter where he stayed for about 2 weeks after being found as a stray in Georgia). I had read about the benefits of a species appropriate, raw food diet, for dogs & cats & read about all of these amazing benefits for the animals, so I decided to give it a try with my dogs.

The first day, I gave them each a serving of raw chicken, cod liver oil, a bit of alfalfa & veggies. They loved it! So, I continued this for a couple of days. After four days on all raw food, I noticed that I could not recall the last time Jasper had coughed. This was significant, because Jasper’s cough had been to the point that he would cough just with simple position changes. After about a week, I noticed that Alo’s bare spots were filling in with new fur growth. Since being all raw, she has not had a reoccurrence with bare spots & she stopped eating her poops. It has been since the summer of 2008 that I made the switch with their diet.  As for Jasper having been very underweight- once on the raw diet, he gained weight at about a 2lb per week rate, quickly building up his strength & stamina.  Now Jasper is at an ideal weight for his breed and age & easily keeps up with Alo when they‘re running around & chasing each other.

I did a trial after about 3 months of them being on all raw food. I decided that since I still had some of their kibble left that I would give half a serving of that kibble in the morning & a half serving of raw food in the afternoon. The following morning, Jasper coughed after going down the stairs.  After a few days of having the kibble, Alo started eating her poops again. So, I stopped the Kibble, threw the remainder out, and resumed them on all an all raw diet & those symptoms resolved within two days. This winter, I decided to put the dogs back on a kibble, but this time I decided to use a human grade kibble (Natura Products supplies this kind of kibble). Since they have been on this kibble, they have had no reoccurrence of their symptoms & are very energetic & healthful.

At one point, Alo had started scratching a lot & eating her poop again, so I used a flower essence for 10 days on her & she stopped with the excessive scratching & stopped eating her poop.

I have been fortunate because my dogs have not had any major ailments, but the ailments that they have had have been extremely responsive to their holistic care.

I also have adopted a cat who had a bite taken out of her leg while she was a stray. The wound was so deep & large that you could see her bone. After the veterinarians attempted surgical closure of the wound, the cat bit at the sutures & the wound reopened partially. The cat was kept at the vets for about two weeks while being treated with antibiotics and there was little wound closure observed in that time period. Once she was brought home, she was placed on a raw food diet, flower essences & an herbal powder preparation which was applied directly to the wound several times a day. Within the period of the first week, the wound fully closed. When she was brought in for her follow up appointment a month later with the vet, they could not even tell which leg had the bite on it because her fur was growing back so well!
